Bristol RSCDS Day School,   Musician’s Workshop – 2023

November 11th  2023

Venue: St Peter’s Church Hall Bristol.

Are you interested in Scottish Traditional Dance Music?  Have you ever thought of playing in a band or would love the experience or do you know of any musician who might be interested in any of the preceding statements?  If the answer to any of these questions is ‘Yes’ then this might well be for you -please read on!

The Bristol branch of the RSCDS  is again organising a Musicians’ Course as part of its Day School on  November  with Ian Muir (of The Craigellachie Band) as course tutor. The opening paragraph may sound daunting but playing for dancing is both exciting, and enjoyable.  A good musician is able to inspire the dancers to dance well .

The Musicians’ Course is principally aimed at giving musicians a grounding in good technique and style for playing for Scottish country dancing, and to have a working band for the evening dance.  Equally important is to have fun!  The club is keen to encourage all  musicians who would like to learn about and understand the skill set needed to play in a band and this is an ideal opportunity. Music will be available from Ian at least 6 weeks prior to the event.

If you are interested, or know of a musician who might well be, then please get in touch with Jan Jones at Ian Muir at: rscdsmusic@btinternet.com

or head to the Bristol RSCDS  website or  www.craigellachie-band.co.uk for more details.
